Report a problem with a government project

Money not paid. Work not done. A list you should have been on. Tell the Inspectorate of Government and we will follow it up.

  • You do not have to give your name.
  • It costs you nothing, on any channel.
  • The person you complain about does not handle your case, and is not told who reported it.
  • It takes about five minutes.

Already reported? Check your case

Enter the number you were given when you reported.

You do not need an account and you are not asked for your name. Your number was read back to you, or sent to you, at the moment you reported.

Other ways to report

You do not need a smartphone or the internet. Use whichever of these is easiest for you.

Talk to a volunteer

Every parish in the project has Community Monitoring Volunteers. They can record your complaint on a phone, even with no network, and give you a tracking number on the spot.

Visit an office

The Inspectorate has regional offices across the country. Staff will write the complaint down for you.

What happens after you report

These are working days, counted from the day we receive your complaint — not the day somebody types it in.

You get a tracking number

Straight away, however you reported. Write it down or keep the message.

Immediately

We confirm we have it

A short message telling you the complaint exists and what happens next.

Same day to 3 working days

We sort and assign it

We decide how serious it is and who should handle it. The system removes anyone connected to the complaint from handling it.

Same day to 3 working days

An officer looks into it

They gather the facts, talk to the people involved, and record what they did.

21 to 45 working days

You hear the outcome

We tell you what was decided and what was done. A case is not closed until you have been told.

3 to 5 working days

If your complaint is about sexual abuse, exploitation or harassment

Say so when you report, or choose that category on the form. The case goes straight to a small specialist desk at the Inspectorate.

District and sub-county officials never see it. It does not appear in any list, count or report they can open. You can report it without giving your name, and it is acted on the same day.

What we do with what you tell us

Held under the Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019.

  • Report anonymously and we record no name, no phone number, no IP address and no browser details. Not hidden — not collected.
  • Give your name and we ask separately whether the officer handling it may see it. Say no and they work the case without it.
  • Every person who opens your case is recorded, permanently, including administrators.
  • If you are threatened for reporting, tell us. That is itself a complaint and it is treated as urgent.
